To belt or not to belt?

If your wedding dress doesn’t make you feel like a million dress, you need to keep looking. There are many styles and trends to choose from and worth the hunt. One of my favorite trends has been the belt or sash. There are so many different styles and it is another way to make your dress your own. I fell in love with a belt before I even found my dress. Some belts are permanently made into the dress while others are removable. Mine was removable, I did not add it until the reception which really changed the feel of my dress and I loved it! We have a feeling this trend is going to stick around for awhile. Even if you feel like it’s not you, give it a try when your trying on dresses, it won’t hurt and you might surprise yourself.
Here are a few of my favs.
 Oscar de la Renta
The one on the left is gorg
Judd Waddell
A way to make a small waist look even smaller and who doesn’t want that!

If you aren’t into the crystals or beading, you can always try a satin sash as well.

Bling Bling

As I did this post I couldn’t get the song “Bling Bling” outta my head! Yes in 8th grade I listened to rap haha it lasted only a short time and at 27 I am officially old because it gives me a headache now. ANYWAYS…looking at bridal jewelry is one of my favorites but I do have to say it is a little bit of a hunt. When I got married finding jewelry was a little difficult, the fake, small, and plastic was NOT the look I was going for. When you spend hundreds of dollars on your dress you don’t want to be wearing jewelry that looks like it came from Claires. If you live in the Columbus area try checking out some of the boutiques in the Short North for unique pieces but if you are specifically wanting bridal try Le Juene Marie or Bella Laccio. Here are a few of my favorite pieces that are accessible to everyone online.
Can you tell I like big pieces? I would wear these out on the town too : )

This well known designer has some spectacular bridal pieces. The Tejani website has choices for every style. Tejani also offers great pieces for everyone in your bridal party. To add “icing” on the cake, I found you a discount code (yay!) If you order between now and December 31st 2011 online use the code SMPNY10 to receive 10% off your purchase *excludes sale and bridesmaid.

I’ve already been a bride but I don’t care I want this necklace!! Check out all of liz law pieces to have a unique piece on your wedding day.

Kristin Morris Jewelry gotta love chunky pieces. Would look AH-maze with a simple strapless gown. It is crazy how much a statement piece can add to your look.

Can’t go wrong browsing ETSY. This seller is belcanto
Another one of my favorites by Haute Bride. Unfortunately for me I take after my ma and grandma’s skeleton wrists and bracelets usually look awkward on me. However if I try this on and it looks as good as it does on this bride, I WILL be making a purchase : )

Guest Blogger: Zeta from Kewpie Dolly

Hi, I’m Zeta Pongonis, and I am the face behind Kewpie Dolly accessories. I specialize in custom hair pieces and fascinators for all occasions, as well as handmade jewelry. My pieces are most commonly comprised of real antique brooches, real feathers, leather, old earrings, and other broken jewelry that I re-purpose into fresh new looks. I love thrifting and antiquing to find the right pieces for my creations. I also love to work with brides, because I am creating for a subject in mind, and it’s a great challenge to channel someones personality into a piece using flowers, colors or personal keepsakes. Most often the wedding veil is removed after the ceremony, so it’s great to have another option for adorning the brides hair throughout the whole evening. I have even worked with bridesmaids to make matching feather fascinates to their dresses.

I sell at 3 Boutique in Powell, Milk Bar in the Short North, and I also have an etsy account at,www.etsy.com/kewpiedolly Come check me out, or hit me up for a custom piece!

The face behind Kewpie Dolly, Zeta!!

As you can see I had a chance to model for Zeta’s pieces
and I can tell you first hand they are all fabulous! -M
